Since the statute of limitations is long past, I will confess to taking my V6-powered '71 Vega up around 130 on a few occasions where it was about out of wind. I was a lot younger (read: "less mature") in those days (1980s).

All I ever saw were the crappy 4 bangers including the one I had. Worst car I ever owned.

I have not had a violation in 25 years. That said I am a two lane black top type of driver. I used to double the rated speed on all corners but since I bought the SS I realized i will have to up that a bit. 127 so far on the straight stretches but I pick my spots where I am familiar with the road.

I lived in the SouthEast at the time, so rust was much less of an issue than in other parts of the country. After sleeving the engine, putting a GT head and headers on the car, it was actually a hoot with the 2.3l engine (I had the 4-speed manual). Got close to 30mpg on the highway, and I could chirp second gear all day long (the car was light). Yeah, I had to do a lot of ongoing work on the car over the 5-6 years I had it, but it was really no worse than other cars of the period (that was *my* experience, YMMV of course!).
Here's the car after the engine swap (went with a THM350 transmission) with my college buddy's Mercury Capri at Road Atlanta:
It did not have the turbo Buick V6, despite the logo on the fender. Dig the '80s stripes, too!

Well you hold the title for biggest diff from posted to your speed.
63 MPH above posted... Very nice..
On a closed course was able to hit 165 on HUD in less than 10,000 feet.

My Challenger SRT displays top speed. My 2014 SS still has the factory limiter so at 155mph I feel it pulling power, 158mph is the most I've seen in it. I've seen 187mph on my motorcycle but no GPS confirmation.

I hit a new PR this weekend, but unfortunately wasn't in a SS. 175 in an AMG E63S.
In the SS's top speed is 165 in the supercharged SS and 160 in the stock SS. Amazing how stable and surefooted all these cars are at those speeds.
